When you have chosen to be an adventure traveller to explore the best and the worst of mother nature- the most important thing you need is a tent. A tent is a traveller’s best friend and you need to make sure that you are investing on the right one for your needs.

There are a number of different tents available for travellers in the market. Some may be semi permanent tents, others maybe luxury tents for more indulgence. But no matter which out of all the tent types you opt for, there are plenty of things you need to keep in mind while buying it. Read on to find out what these factors are-

  • How many people will use the tent –While buying a tent, you must consider the number of people it will be able to accommodate. Although,a tent may claim that it is a 4-men tent; it may fail to accommodate your group of four, if say, all of you are overweight. So, making the choice judiciously is highly advisable.
  • The season – For different seasons, the tents used should be different. For example,tents made for use in summers are made of lightweight materials and have a lot of ventilations. These are not meant for extreme rough use. However, the winter tents are made of heavier materials and don’t wear out easily. Then again, there are three-season tents which are good for all kinds of seasons. These tents mayhelp you stay safe during heavy rains besides providing you protection from cold.
  • The ease of use – Whether you are buying one of those semi-permanent camping tents, or any other variety, the ease of use matters a lot. Yes, you have found a tent with attractive specification sand it can easily accommodate your ten-man group. But have you considered how long will it take to set up the tent? The tent shouldn’t take more than half an hour to be set up and if it does, it will be quite hard for you to handle it. If it is possible for you, do a test at the shop itself. Learn how to set up, and look if there are any special ways to close it. But remember one thing-you will need a camping site twice big as the tent is.
  • Material and weight of the tent – If you are carrying the tent to a hilly area or to the top of the mountain, you should keep the weight of the tent in mind. Choose a tent that isn’t very heavy to carry. Some tents are extremely heavy and you may not be able to handle the weight. It is wise to choose a material which doesn’t make the camp heavier. Many tents claim to have beenmade of waterproof material; but if you are looking for cheap tents, they may not be as water resistant as you would like them to be.
