Talking about Chandigarh, it is the Union Territory in North India. It is the capital of states of Punjab and Haryana. It is the most- planned city in India. The name of this city was coined by an ancient temple known as Chandi Mandir, dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Chandi. The beauty of this city is its captivating nature. Sukhna Lake- A Manmade Lake!
This Lake is a man-made lake. With its virgin blue water, the lake caters as a perfect place for a stream of early morning walkers and joggers. Apart from serving as a treat for shutterbugs and artists, the lake is also a place for water sports activities like yachting, boating and water-skiing. Moreover, this area is home to various species of fish and migratory birds like Siberian ducks and cranes. Enclosed by a beautiful golf course on its south and well known Rose Garden towards west, this lake caters a hypnotic view for its visitors.
Rock Garden
This garden is a symbol of novelty and imagination. It is of unique type of garden scattered across an area of sixty-four acres. This Rock Garden has beautifully been designed as an open-air exhibition hall. It was constructed by using urban and industrial wastes by Nek Chand, who was a former Road Inspector in Chandigarh.
The Garden is a sculpture garden and it is also called Nek Chand’s Rock Garden. He started this garden secretly in his leisure time in the year 1957. Today, this garden is sprawling over an area of forty acres. The entire area is fully built of home and industrial waste and thrown-away stuff.
Here, many sculptures are made up of china ware, broken ken glass bangles, cast-off fluorescent tubes, and coal and clay premises. You can find an extensive blend of artistic art, creativity, innovation and thoughtfulness in the creation of this garden. Perhaps, it is its uniqueness and charm that people from different corners of world visit this garden.
