Bulk Food Storage Mistakes That Some Wholesalers Make

wholesalers

Wholesale food suppliers deal with food in bulk. Some of the food they deal with is perishable. It is, therefore, important for clients to find out how their wholesalers store their food before it is shipped to them. Here are some common food storage mistakes that wholesalers make.

Leaving containers open

A lot of people assume that they can leave rice and pasta containers open, whether from your bulk bag or regular box. However, bacteria and moisture can affect the quality of your food. It could also topple over and then you will lose your food.

This can easily make the consumers sick and it will speed up the spoilage of your food items. It can be as simple as clipping the top of a thick container or bag of rice, taping over the corner of your pasta box or even transferring your bulk food items to a sealed container after opening. If you deal with wholesale food, you should ensure the container maintains the right temperatures to prevent the food from going bad.

Not transferring food items to sealed containers

If you have completed your grocery trip, you may feel very exhausted and not in the mood to transfer food items like spices and flour from a bag to the appropriate storage container. From experience, these types of bags can leak or if you are using plastic, you not only have to clean up the flour but you will also have wasted money purchasing bulk items rather than saving the money.

Not rotating your bulk stock

While it may seem logical to just buy more of what you are low on and add it to the top of your container, if this is how you shop then you could wind up with flour, beans and oats. Before you order new food products from your wholesale food suppliers, it is best to finish what you already have before buying more.
